  • Creolization, language emergence, language change and variation
  • Realizational approach to inflectional morphology ("Word and Paradigm", "Paradigm Function Morphology"), using data from creole languages (Guinea-Bissau Portuguese-related Creole, Haitian, Nubi, etc.), West-Atlantic languages (Manjaku, Wolof), Afroasiatic languages (Arabic, Hebrew, Amharic), Indo-European languages (Romance and Slavonic), Meso-American languages (Mazatec), and Finno-Ugric languages (Estonian, Vepse).
