Présentation générale

One of my major interest is language modeling: using statistical methods to corpus analysis or experimental data in order to discover the underlying language regularities. My PHD thesis works on the gradience of sentences' grammaticality, a framework similar to (but different from) OT theory, MaxEnt. We use a sum-weighted model to capture intermediate sentences' wellformedness, which is reflected in acceptability judgments.

My current work focuses on grammatical agreement, epecially with conjoined nouns, showing that agreement with the closest noun is widely used in French, both for number agreement (`votre nom et prénom'), and gender agreement (`certaines régions et départements').

I'm also interested in uncovering what neural network language models learn about syntactic structures, see my recent paper in EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019 (collab. Peng Qian, Ethan Wilcox, and Roger Levy): Representation of Constituents in Neural Language Models: Coordination Phrase as a Case Study.
