Conférence Ellipse et silence

Jeudi 28 Juin 2018, 09:00
Organisation:
Anne Abeillé, Jong-Bok Kim, Jonnna Nykiel
Lieu:

Kyung Hee University at Seoul, Korea

The goal of this workshop is to have another open forum to discuss theoretical as well as experimental investigations of elliptical phenomena (e.g, VP/NP ellipsis, sluicing, fragment answers, (why-)stripping, gapping, swiping, and so forth). Language comprehension uses relations between form and meaning, but in elliptical constructions this mapping involves the linguistic and non-linguistic context in a more complex way, challenging both linguistic and psycholinguistic theories. There has been a vast amount of work on this topic, but many issues remain open. The workshop invites contributions from researchers who have been working on elliptical phenomena either from theoretical perspectives or using experimental methods. Contributions focusing on typological comparisons or based on corpus studies are also welcomed.

Invited Speakers

  • Jonathan Ginzburg (Paris Diderot)
  • Jeffrey Runner (Rochester U.)
