Exclamatives and (Non)-Ellipsis

In this talk I will consider bare wh-exclamatives (What a goal! How odd!), arguing against an elliptical treatment that relates them to sentential wh-exclamatives. In developing an analysis various past accounts of both types of construction will be reevaluated and an analysis of exclaiming within a dynamic view of emotional appraisal will be sketched.
